Annotations on the Boredom

In process

I am working on a post-poetic body of work titled “Annotations on the Boredom”, an immersive binnacle of my travels embodying a curated series of poets. My journey starts in Venezuela, with my soul looking for freedom in the depths of hell. While faced with deathful anguish, the poets’ voices became my Virgils, guiding me to overcome the dangers of the path and giving me refuge in every live performance when I read their passages. The pilgrimage develops in three general movements:

The Outward Journey when I document the authors’ work and life. The Inner Journey, a documentation of the symbolic realm orbiting each author; and The Reconciliation: a staged post-poetic installation that reconstructs the incarnation process of my “Selves.”

This immersive installation, displayed as a “thread of consciousness,” holds my life to the poets’ lives. The findings I treasure from the travels, nourish the scenes as asynchronous time-lapses mixing photography, audiovisuals, and live performances, involving documentation, social practice, and staging. Eroticism manifests throughout layers of voices, reading aloud, and overlapping images. The listener’s body vibrates and alters as the quality of this loving act.
